Even though the online library can also be used on mobile devices and gives access to an electric library card, there are various mobile applications available for a friend of libraries and books. These applications are all free of charge and downloadable from the application stores. To sign in, you only need your library card number and PIN code unless mentioned otherwise. Ellibs
There is material available on Ellibs as long as the previously purchased licenses are valid. In future, e-books will be available through the E-library application.
The Ellibs application lets you search, reserve, loan and read ebooks and eaudiobooks from the PIKI Library’s Ellibs collection. Books borrowed in the Ellibs online service are also available on the application, and vice versa, enabling you to choose freely whether to use the online service or the application, or both.The application is in Finnish.
Libby
This application's end of use will be in August 2024. In future, e-books will be available through the E-library application.
With the Libby application, you can browse, loan, reserve and read ebooks and listen to audiobooks from the OverDrive collection. All items downloaded to the application can be accessed without an internet connection.
PressReader
The PressReader application brings all the various magazines and newspapers at the PressReader online service into your mobile device. Items downloaded with the application can be accessed without and internet connection. Items found in the application can also be listened or translated into different languages.
Pirkanmaan Reading Diploma, primary school
This application is meant for the students of primary schools who are working on the Pirkanmaa Reading Diploma. It includes book lists and tasks connected to the books for each grade, making it easier to check the books from the library. It also has a checklist feature that helps you keep track of the finished tasks. The checklist can be shared to others, e.g. the teacher. The application does not require signing in. The application is in Finnish.
Pirkanmaan Reading Diploma, junior high school and trade school
This application is meant for the students of junior high schools, high schools and trade schools who are working on the Pirkanmaa Reading Diploma. It includes book lists and tasks connected to the books for each grade, making it easier to check the books from the library. Kirjatti's Family Reading Diploma
Kirjatti’s Family Reading Diploma encourages families to read together as well as helps families to find new stories to read together. Kirjatti’s Family Reading Diploma gives book recommendations and supports the reading hobby of small children and their families. The application has a short description of each recommended book, and you can make your own list of the books you have read together with your child. Kirjatti the Library Cat, who you might already know from previous visits to your PIKI Library’s children’s section, will accompany you and your child on your bookish adventure! The use of the application does not require signing in. The application is in Finnish.
Naxos
Naxos offers three different applications to access its’ online services:
- NML gives access to Naxos Music Library
- NML Jazz gives access to Naxos Music Library Jazz
- NML World gives access to Naxos Music Library World
With the applications, you can listen Naxos items online or download items to your device for further listening and watching. The use of the application requires a user account also in the online service, not only the application.
Pratsam Reader
With the Pratsam Reader application, you can listen to Celia audiobooks from the Celianet online service or download the books to your device's memory and play the books offline. You can browse and bookmark audiobooks. Celia’s books can be used by those who find it difficult to read a regular book due to reading difficulty, illness, injury, or a similar reason. You can join Celia's free audiobook service at the library. Use of the application requires a username provided by Celia. The application is in Finnish.
